Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils

Spring is almost here, and it’s the perfect time to do a little spring cleaning. In a way, with every new season comes a great opportunity to start fresh. You know, removing a little clutter and reorganizing your things. And part of decluttering is also doing a little cleaning. What better way to clean than with toxin-free essential oils?

Believe me, at first, I was a skeptic when it came to cleaning with essential oils. I believed that if it didn’t smell borderline toxic, it wasn’t effective. But that’s not true at all. In fact, once you begin to use essential oils, it’s rather difficult to go back to heavy cleaning products. That burning smell is not good for us and is extremely toxic.

If you are just dipping your toes into the wonderful world of essential oils, don’t worry! Here are some of my favorite essential oils with incredible green-cleaning properties to get you started.

Lemon

There’s a reason why you can find so many cleaning products with a lemon scent. Not only does it help your home smell deliciously clean, but this essential oil is a natural antibacterial and antiviral. Whether you want to just keep it diffused in the room for a bright and cheerful environment or use a few drops in your all-purpose natural cleaner, lemon essential oil is a must in green cleaning. Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is great for creating a fresh ambiance. It can also help with opening the airways and even help with sinus pain. You may be mainly familiar with its minty smell in ointments, mouthwashes, and even cough drops because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Eucalyptus also has antiseptic properties, which makes this oil great for cleaning your space. Enjoy a cleaner air with this natural eucalyptus aromatherapy candle.

Pine

When pine essential oil is diffused, it has calming properties. But this oil is also great to enjoy for its cleansing properties. It helps with getting rid of any unpleasant odors and purifying the air while also being a great anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Leave your floors sparkling clean with this very simple to make DIY pine floor cleaner.

Orange

I love orange essential oil. It’s probably one of my favorite oils along with grapefruit. It has a happy and uplifting smell that truly makes me smile. Like the other oils on this list, it’s also a great alternative to use in your homemade green cleaning products with the bonus of a delicious, citrus energy boost! Remove grease from your stickiest pans and counters with this homemade orange degreaser!

So there you have it! Start your spring with an uncluttered, fresh, and clean home to leave room for your new spring adventures. And if you don’t know where to start, check out these simple tips on decluttering to activate your creative muse!
