Superfoods You Don’t Want to Miss

I believe that all fresh foods found in nature should earn the title of “super.” If you think about it, each one has its combination of wonderful nutrients that nourish and do wonders for your body. But it’s also hard to deny that it’s fun to explore new foods and their benefits. That’s why I like to keep an eye on trending superfoods. It’s a great way to keep me in the know about something that I absolutely must try.

Moringa

Moringa is a plant typically found in India that contains nutrients like vitamins A, C, and E, as well as minerals like calcium and potassium. It’s also a source of protein and contains powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Because of this, Moringa can support brain, heart, and liver health. The best part is that you can enjoy all these benefits by simply adding a little Moringa to your favorite smoothies, yogurt, and beverages to give your body that extra daily boost!

Cacao Nibs

We know by now that dark chocolate can provide delicious and incredible benefits. But imagine if you could get even more out of your chocolate in a raw and less processed way? That’s where cacao nibs come in. Cacao nibs are made from the pure cacao beans and are packed with nutrition and antioxidants. This rich treat is a great source of magnesium, which can provide our bodies with muscle and nerve function support. It’s also a source of fiber, which can be a great tool to help us shed those extra pounds as well as keep us regular. Some delicious ways to enjoy cacao nibs include adding them to smoothies, breakfast bowls, and even baked goods for an extra crunch and flavor.

Buckwheat

Quinoa, for a while, was the grain of the moment, the one that everyone was talking about. I confess that I also was in the quinoa craze and substituted all my grains for it. And although I still love it, there are other great grain options that we can incorporate into our day-to-day to give us wonderful nutrients. The best part is that this is also a gluten-free option! Buckwheat is a great source of protein, fiber, antioxidants, and important vitamins and minerals. So what do you say? Ready to enjoy a delicious buckwheat “oatmeal”?

Turmeric

Turmeric, and its beautiful vibrant yellow color, is one of the main ingredient spices used to make curry. What gives turmeric its lovely color also provides our bodies with wonderful nutrients. Turmeric is a potent anti-inflammatory and also offers our cells wonderful antioxidant benefits. Turmeric can support brain health and mood, is a great cardiovascular support, and can really give a little extra love to our joints. Add turmeric to your breakfast eggs, spice up your rice and lentils, or just enjoy its super nutrients in a delicious smoothie!

Manuka Honey

And to finalize the list of superfoods, my absolute favorite thing to have in my kitchen cabinet is Manuka honey. This type of honey is quite different from your regular honey. The honey comes from bees that pollinate the Manuka bush and is packed with nutrients. Not only do I find Manuka honey delicious, but it’s rich in antimicrobial properties. It gives the immune system a nice boost and also supports skin healing from mild burns, wounds, and even acne.
