Detox Cabbage Salad


Welcome to PureFormulas’ Superfood Cooking Challenge, where we challenge you to start your year on the right foot and cook your way to a healthy new you! Most people see January as the month to start the new diet…We say throw the new diet out the window and become familiarized with your kitchen and superfoods!

We decided to start the challenge with a “dip your toes” in your kitchen kind of recipe by making this lovely, colorful cabbage salad. The S word (salad) might not be your favorite and may even bring not your fondest childhood memories of having to finish your veggies before playtime. But times have changed and salads are back to show you that they are not only great for you but can be incredibly delicious! How about starting the year with giving your body a nutrient boost with this cabbage, goji berries, apple, and fennel seeds salad. It will take you a total of 20 minutes to have everything ready, simply chop and mix the ingredients.

Remember, these are just suggestions and you can always switch up or add ingredients. Not a fan of apples? You can substitute for other fruits, like pears. I also think that spinach will add a delightful special touch to this salad, don’t you think?


Detox Cabbage Salad

For the salad
  1. ½ head of red cabbage
  2. 1 red apple
  3. ¼ red onion
  4. ½ cup chopped pecans
  5. ½ cup goji berries
For the dressing
  1. 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  2. A pinch cayenne pepper
  3. 1/3 cup greek yogurt
  4. 2 teaspoons of honey
  5. 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  6. Pinch of Himalayan salt
  1. Thinly slice the cabbage, apple, and red onions and place in a medium bowl.
  2. Top with goji berries and pecans.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the ingredients for the dressing until evenly combined.
  4. Serve salad with dressing on top.
